We are Georgetown University’s Society of Professional Journalists
Georgetown University’s Society of Professional Journalists Chapter is a student run organization focused on providing professional development opportunities to all of our members. The Georgetown University (GU) student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) was founded in 2011 and has continued to grow each year! We host events for local journalists, student journalists, and others who may be interested in journalism. Our previous SPJ Blog can be found here!
GUSPJ Members can participate in the Annual Region 2 Conference, Sunshine Week, Washington D.C. Journalism Career Fair, Hackathon, newsroom visits, community service, and so much more. SPJ membership also entitles students to scholarships and great discounts. These networking opportunities are surprising
To become a member, students must enroll via the national SPJ website. The student membership rate is $37.50 per year. GU SPJ does not charge any separate membership dues! That’s right, your membership to our SPJ chapter is FREE with your student membership to SPJ!
Important note: Upon enrollment, members must provide their membership number to GU SPJ via email. Connect with the GU SPJ via email, Twitter or Facebook to learn about the latest events and activities.
